Independent MLA Fiona Carrick is calling on the ACT Government to release the business case for its proposal to relocate the Woden Access Canberra shopfront into the Woden Library.

Ms Carrick said the government should explain whether the proposal was based on community needs or driven by the expiry of the current Access Canberra lease and cost-saving measures.

She said residents were concerned the move could reduce library space and services, while also questioning the impact of relocating Access Canberra’s back-office staff from Woden to Dickson when the current lease expires in January 2027.

Ms Carrick also raised concerns about access to the library, saying constituents had complained about limited accessible parking and its distance from the Woden Bus Interchange.

She said the government should release the business case to show how the proposal would meet future demand for library services, community facilities and government services as Woden’s population grows.
