A 31-year-old Chisholm man has been charged after allegedly causing a single-vehicle collision on Drakeford Drive on Wednesday.

At about 11am, police allege the man was driving a white Mitsubishi Lancer at speed and weaving through traffic in Bonython before losing control of the vehicle.

The car struck a kerb and rolled several times, flattening a pedestrian crossing handrail and uprooting a light pole.

Police were called to the crash and searched the man, locating two knives and an axe.

The man was arrested and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

He has been charged with reckless driving, property damage, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, possessing a knife without reasonable excuse, and using a numberplate issued to another vehicle.
