Canberra spared as airline halves Brisbane flights

Fiji Airways… still flying to Canberra.

By aviation writer Scott Mayman

Fiji Airways will continue flying to Canberra despite cutting services elsewhere in Australia as airlines move to manage rising fuel costs.

The carrier this week confirmed it would reduce its Brisbane route from two flights to one daily, prompting concern about broader reductions across its Australian network.

However, flights to and from the national capital remain unchanged for now.

Fiji Airways currently operates three services a week between Canberra and Nadi, typically on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The airline has not indicated any immediate changes to the Canberra route, though the broader cuts highlight ongoing pressure on international carriers to rein in costs.
