The 2026-27 ACT Budget has passed the Legislative Assembly, with new spending on housing, health and community services alongside cost-of-living measures.

The Budget abolishes stamp duty for all first-home buyers purchasing a home to live in, with the government saying the ACT is the first Australian jurisdiction to introduce such an exemption for all owner-occupier first-home buyers.

Housing measures include $364 million for the new Public Housing Pipeline Program, which is expected to deliver 450 public homes.

A further $183.4 million will go towards repairs and maintenance of existing public housing.

The Budget also provides more than $130 million for the community sector.

Health spending includes $1.34 billion over seven years towards construction of the new Northside Hospital.

The government says the Budget provides targeted support while continuing its fiscal strategy.
