Woman caught driving six times over the limit

A 40-year-old Fadden woman was caught driving at more than six times the legal limit at 8.40am on Friday.

She returned a breath analysis reading of 0.331 and her licence was immediately suspended.

The woman had been taken into custody after allegedly driving her silver Mazda 3 erratically in the northbound lane of the Monaro Highway before colliding into a black ute on the off ramp near Canberra Avenue in Narrabundah.

The woman was issued with an immediate suspension notice and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date to face a high-range drink driving charge and possible other charges.

Sgt Dave Lawler said it was disappointing to see an incident like this happen, especially as ACT police were targeting impaired driving in August.

“We are only eight hours into our impaired driving focus for August, so it is really discouraging to see this level of drink driving occur,” he said.
