
To mark the 50th anniversary of performer Tina Arena’s career, the National Portrait Gallery has commissioned photographer Georges Antoni to create her portrait.
Filippina “Tina” Arena was just eight years old when she first appeared as “Pina” on the television show, Young Talent with Abba’s hit song, Ring Ring.
After seven years, she left the TV show at the age of 16 to forge a solo career, and has since sold more than 10 million records worldwide, winning including a BRIT Award, seven ARIA Awards and two World Music Awards. In 2011, Arena was awarded the French National Order of National Merit.
Antoni is an Australian fashion photographer whose subjects including Adrien Brody, Monica Bellucci, Sam Neil, Rihanna, Chris Hemsworth, Kylie Minogue, Naomi Campbell, Simon Baker, Karlie Kloss and Bella Hadid, shooting for Versace and Hugo Boss and working for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, I-D, V Magazine and Elle.
The portrait is on view at the National Portrait Gallery from September 6.
