Three teenagers have been charged with breaking into a Griffith home twice and allegedly striking a male occupant on the head with a mop handle.
Police allege that on July 23 three teenagers and an unknown offender in a stolen BMW sedan stopped on a street in Griffith, ACT.
A 14-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy attempted to enter a home through the front and rear doors but were unsuccessful as both were locked.
At the same time, another 15-year-old boy and the unknown offender entered a different residence on the same street through a pet door, stealing car keys and a mobile phone.
A short time later, the three teenagers and the unknown offender re-entered the residence. One of the offenders allegedly struck a male occupant on the head with a mop handle. All four then fled in the stolen BMW.
The incident was captured on CCTV and reported to police. Following an investigation, three teenagers were arrested and charged with multiple offences, including aggravated burglary, common assault, theft and ride motor vehicle without consent.
One of the 15-year-old boys charged was subject to a good behaviour order and enquiries are continuing to identify the unknown offender.
