Two girls aged 16 and 14 are facing charges following the pursuit of a stolen vehicle, one of whom is also charged with the assault of two police officers.
At about 2pm on Friday police spotted an alleged stolen red Lexus 300H at a petrol station in Phillip.
Police followed the vehicle and a short time later pursued it through multiple suburbs. Half an hour later, the vehicle’s 14-year-old driver lost control on Ginninderra Drive, Flynn, and the Lexus hit a light pole.
The teenagers were arrested.
The driver is charged with three counts of aggravated furious/dangerous driving, driving motor vehicle without consent, minor theft, being an unlicensed driver and breach of bail.
The 16-year-old passenger was taken to North Canberra Hospital under police guard.
Police say that around midnight she became aggressive towards two police officers and allegedly spat in the face of one and kicked the other in the chest.
A short time later, the girl was transferred to the ACT Watch House.
She faces two counts of assaulting a frontline community service provider, riding in a motor vehicle without consent, and breach of bail.
