Short-sighted attempt to break into optometrist

Two men attempted to break into Bailey Nelson Optometrist, at Westfield Belconnen, causing significant damage to the door at about 7.20am on Tuesday.

Confronted by a cleaner, the men allegedly ran towards him with weapons The cleaner fled.

Empty handed, the men drove off through a boom gate on to Swanson Street in a blue Mazda 3 with stolen ACT registration plates YCO12K.

Police describe one of the men as about 180cm (5’11”) tall with a solid build. He was wearing a black hoodie with a logo on the front, black tracksuit pants, white Asics shoes, gloves (one black and one blue), a black face covering and carrying black satchel bag.

The other man is believed to be 170cm (5’7”) tall with a slim build and wearing a grey hoodie, blue pants, black boots, gloves (one red and white and the one white and yellow), and a black face covering.
