Real cops arrest ‘fake’ cops after home invasion

Two of four men who allegedly forced their way into a Mawson home in July claiming to be police officers were arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

The group purported to be acting on a search warrant, threatened the occupant with a firearm and other weapons before assaulting him, leaving him with serious injuries.

Police believe the man was mistakenly targeted.

Police arrested a 37-year-old Rivett man and a 47-year-old Googong manand charged them with aggravated burglary – intent to commit theft, aggravated robbery, assault, impersonating a territory public official, minor theft and property damage.

The 47-year-old has also been charged with breach of parole.

The 37-year-old has also been charged with knife possession.

Investigations into the identities of the other two men are ongoing.
