Labor storms to bigger majority with second poll win

Labor has made significant gains across the country, winning a swathe of seats from the coalition to stay in government.

FEDERAL ELECTION SEAT COUNT

Labor: 85 seats

Coalition: 39 seats

Greens: 0 seats

Independents: 10 seats

In doubt: 16 seats

SEATS THAT CHANGED HANDS

  • Dickson (Qld) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Bonner (Qld) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Braddon (Tas) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Deakin (Vic) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Hughes (NSW) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Leichhardt (Qld) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Petrie (Qld) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Sturt (SA) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Banks (NSW) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Forde (Qld) – Labor gain from coalition

  • Moore (WA) – Labor gain from coalition

Vote count as of 10pm, with 40 per cent of national tally counted.
