Wallaroo winemaker Michael Anderson has claimed the Champion Wine of Show award at the Canberra and Region Wine Show, for his 2025 Brindabella Hills Riesling.
Chair of judges Shanteh Wale said the purity of the Brindabella Hills riesling, was undeniable.
“With a cascade of fresh linen and gathered spring blossoms, it carried tension, electric energy, and a long, driving line of flavour – simply irresistible,” Ms Wale said.
“Its triumph speaks volumes – to emerge from such an extensive line-up of exceptional rieslings, from an entirely new set of judges and claim the title of Wine of Show is remarkable.”
In addition to the top gong, Anderson took home Best White Wine of Show; Best Riesling; and Best Canberra District Riesling.
Last year’s winner Nick O’Leary won the 2025 Wine of Provenance, for his riesling; Best Tempranillo with his 2024 Seven Gates Tempranillo; Best Chardonnay with the 2023 Denison Chardonnay; and Most Successful Exhibitor of Show.
