Michele England’s Going, going, gone ‘25 uses decoupage and embroidery to reflect on habitat loss and the survival of the northern hairy-nosed wombat. Chutespace, Griffith until September 28.

The Kim Nelson Retrospective honours the artist and community figure who lived in Yass and died 10 years ago. Curated by his daughter Caitlin, the show features around 140 sketches, oil paintings, mixed media works and prints. Tyger Gallery, Yass, September 12-27.

Now in its 17th year, the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival now has 283 finalists from 25 countries, There’ll be free public screenings at the National Museum of Australia, September 12.

ANU’s Meet the Author series hosts Marian Wilkinson with David Pocock on September 11 and Tracey Lee Holmes with Phil Coorey on September 15, both at the Lowitja O’Donoghue Cultural Centre, ANU.

Oh What A Night!: From Vegas to Queanbeyan returns with a blockbuster musical revue of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons hits at The Q, Queanbeyan, September 11.

Celebrated pianist and composer Ian Munro will be here for the ACT Keyboard Association performing works by Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, and his own Fairy Tales. Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture Chapel, Barton, September 13.
Warren Fahey with Marcus Holden and Garry Steel will perform at The Merry Muse, at Canberra Irish Club, Weston, September 14.
The Song Company – Pairings & Odd explores surprising musical connections, spanning early chant to contemporary works by composers such as Arvo Pärt and features the world premiere of Fuego Y Agua. Wesley Music Centre, September 14.

Stage

It’s the opening week of the Festival of New Works at Canberra Theatre Centre. First up are the Cadaver Palaver, with Christopher Samuel Carroll and Superposition, a kinetic clash of bodies and algorithms by Jazmyn Carter and Gabriel Sinclair. Courtyard Studio, September 12-14.
