THREE people were arrested – one for drink driving, one for drug possession, and one for both – on Saturday.

In response to a disturbance in Dunlop, Police arrived at a house to find what they describe as a large amount of broken glass and many items scattered across the driveway.

A short time later, a 45-year-old man arrived at the house and refused to take a roadside breath test. He was taken into custody where he recorded a blood alcohol content (BAC) reading of 0.166, and issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice (ISN) suspending his licence for 90 days.

In searching the house, police discovered 18 cannabis plants growing both outside and inside, with a hydroponic cultivation and temperature control systems being used.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday charged with artificial cultivation of three or more controlled plants and level four drink driving.

AT 7pm, a 40-year-old Karabar (NSW) woman, who failed to appear in court on  March 1, attended the Civic police station.

Police will allege that during the intake process at the ACT Watch House, 7.9 grams of a substance suspected of being methylamphetamine was discovered in the woman’s handbag, with an estimated street value of more than $7000.

The woman will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of possessing a drug of dependence.

BY 8.15pm officers on patrol in Hackett spotted a man leave the driver’s seat of a black Range Rover Evoque carrying a can of alcoholic drink.

Police checks confirmed that the 20-year-old Narrabundah man had never held a driver’s licence. As an unlicensed driver, he is subject to a zero blood-alcohol limit.

The man recorded a BAC of 0.161, and issued with an ISN banning him from applying for or obtaining a licence for a period of 90 days.

He will answer to charges of level four drink driving, unlicensed driving and breach of good behaviour obligations in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
