A Reid man has been charged after allegedly threatening a woman with a sword in Glebe Park.

Police say a man pointed a samurai sword at a woman and her child about 8.30pm on Friday.

Officers located the man, who complied with directions to drop the weapon.

Police allege he was also in possession of stolen property, including jewellery and other items found in a nearby bag and parcel.

The 51-year-old man has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon and unlawful possession of stolen property.

Investigations are on to identify the owners of the items and further charges may be laid.
