Teen charged after family assault in Kambah

A 19-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting two family members, including choking his sister, during a domestic dispute in Kambah.

Police allege the man became involved in a verbal argument with his younger sister about 6.15pm on Wednesday evening before yelling at her and grabbing and assaulting her.

When his grandmother attempted to intervene, the man allegedly assaulted her as well.

Police say the situation escalated when the sister again tried to intervene, with police alleging the man grabbed her and choked her.

Another relative was contacted and reported the incident to police, who attended the home a short time later and arrested the man.

He has been charged with two counts of aggravated common assault and one count of choking/suffocating/strangling another person.
