New operator brings e-bikes and e-scooters

Lime e-bikes coming to town next month.

Lime has been selected as the new provider of shared e-scooter services in the ACT, replacing current operator Neuron.

Neuron launched Canberra’s first shared e-scooter service in 2020 and said riders had taken millions of trips across the city since the program began.

Lime, which operates in Brisbane, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Sydney, has won been awarded a three-year permit under the Public Unleased Land Act 2013 and is scheduled to start from April 16.

As part of the new arrangement, Lime will include shared e-bikes in addition to e-scooters, offering riders another option for short trips and connections to public transport.

ACT Government officials said shared e-scooters had become an established part of Canberra’s transport mix since their introduction in 2020.
