A 54-year-old Gordon man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of his elderly mother last year.

Emergency services attended a home in Gordon on July 1 where they found a 74-year-old woman living in extremely poor health and conditions.

Paramedics took the woman to hospital, where she died the following day.

Police allege the man, who was the woman’s full-time carer, failed to provide adequate care over an extended period and did not seek medical assistance despite her significant and worsening health conditions.
