P-plater caught more than 60km/h over limit

A 21-year-old Moncrieff man has lost his provisional licence after being caught speeding by more than 60km/h on Sunday.

Police say that at about 8.35am on Sunday, officers were patrolling Caswell Drive in Aranda when they spotted a blue Hyundai Venue travelling at high speed.

Police radar captured the vehicle’s speed at 153km/h in a signposted 90km/h zone.

The driver was issued with an immediate suspension notice, suspending his right to drive in the ACT for 90 days.

The driver was also issued with two fines for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and not displaying P-plates.
