THE zoo has been closed after a woman was found dead in the commercial kitchen area.
A 29-year-old man, has been taken into custody and taken to hospital under police guard.
Police and emergency services had responded to reports of a disturbance at the National Zoo & Aquarium at about 12.50pm on Monday.
The zoo has been closed, and police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public at this time.
