Speeding motorcyclist arrested at work

Police arrest the motorcycle rider at a building site in north Canberra last week.

A 33-year-old Forde man will face court in January after he overtook police at speed on the Majura Parkway and then failed to stop when they chased him.

Police say on December 1, a patrol was heading south when it was allegedly overtaken at speed by the motorcycle.

Police activated their lights and siren and the rider indicated he would pull off the road, however he failed to do so.

Police say he exited on to Fairbairn Avenue, where he allegedly proceeded through the intersection against the lights and travelled down an adjacent bike path. Due to concerns for community safety, the pursuit was terminated.

Police identified the rider and he was arrested at a building site in north Canberra on December 7.

He has been charged with eight offences including failing to stop for police, unlicensed driving, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, speeding, dangerous driving, not keeping left, not stop at lights and driving in a bike lane.

He is on bail and will face the ACT Magistrates Court in January.
