Knife threats as man runs off with mobile phone

A MAN, armed with a wooden knife, allegedly robbed the Australia Post store in Dickson on Friday afternoon.

Police allege that at about 4.10pm a 37-year-old Torrens man, in the process of buying a mobile phone, produced the wooden knife. Police say after a brief struggle, the man tried to leave the store with the mobile phone, but not before swinging the knife at a customer who tried to stop him from leaving.

Police identified the man from CCTV footage and arrested him at his home later that evening. The stolen phone’s box was located in a car parked in his driveway.

He has been charged with aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon.
