Police rescue mistreated animals

ACT Police rescued two mistreated animals from a home in Lyons on Wednesday.

Officers entered the Lyons backyard where they initially found a goat which had no shelter or water source.

Further investigations gave police reason to use their emergency powers to enter the home under the ACT Animal Welfare ACT, where they found a malnourished three-month-old puppy.

The officers were unable to see any evidence the animals were being cared for, with no bowls for water or food, and no dog food in the house.

ACT Domestic Animal Services came and removed the animals from the house.
