Canberra man cries at Lotto win

A CANBERRA man is set to share his winnings, after bagging more than $720,000 in a Lotto Strike prize.

The winning man held the only division one winning entry in Monday’s game, taking away $729,938.60.

“Holy smokes! Oh, you’re kidding! I can help my daughter, I can help my whole family,” he said as he received the call to confirm his win.

“It’s so hard for everyone at the moment with the cost of living continuously rising, and my family is no exception.

“To think I’m crying to a stranger on the phone! I just can’t believe that I’ll be able to make my family’s lives so much easier.

“My mum used to tell me that I’d win one day. I’m not sure if I ever believed her but I kept playing.”

The man said he was keen to support more causes too.

“I’ll have to donate some of the prize,” he said.

“Everyone is doing it tough and if I can help a few other charities and families out, I will.

“What an incredible thing to happen!”
