Police seize speeding Ferrari for 90 days

The red Ferrari police seized on Sunday for 90 days.

A RED Ferrari flashed past a stationary patrol car on Sunday morning doing 139km/h in the posted 80km/h zone.  

Police stopped the car on the Monaro Highway. The 43-year-old driver from Griffith was issued with an immediate suspension notice for 90 days and his car was seized.

He was one of two drivers who had their vehicles seized and licences immediately suspended at the weekend after both were caught driving in excess of the posted limit.

Police used recently legislation changes that allowed officers to immediately suspend a driver’s licence and seize a vehicle for up to 90 days when excessive speeding occurred.

The other incident occurred about noon on Saturday when police clocked a white Ford Falcon driving at 129km/h in a 80km/h zone.

The 22-year-old Giralang man was driving on an already cancelled learner’s licence and the car was not roadworthy.  He was banned from driving for  a further 90 days, fined $3059 and the vehicle was seized.
