POLICE seized drugs with an estimated street value of more than $3.5 million from a white Ford Transit during a targeted traffic stop on the Barton Highway on Tuesday afternoon.
A 33-year-old Phillip man has been charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.
Police say that during the search of the van a large, sophisticated hydraulic concealment area was found within the vehicle that contained:
- More than five kilograms of methamphetamine .
- Encrypted mobile devices.
- About 500 grams of Boric Acid, a known cutting agent.
A further search of the man’s apartment in Phillip found cash that police will allege to be proceeds of crime.
Det-Insp Mark Steel said the seizure of the drugs should serve as a warning to people trying to bring drugs into the territory.
“Drugs like methamphetamine are not social drugs; they inflict harm on the users, and lead to other violent crimes being committed,” he said.
