Traffic banks up after body found beside parkway

THERE are long queues as rush-hour traffic banking up on the southbound lanes of the Tuggeranong Parkway on Friday evening.

Shane Watson.

Police have cordoned off an area near the Cotter Road overpass off-ramp following the discovery of a man’s body by a bushwalker this morning.

The man is believed to be 33-year-old, Shane Daniel Watson, who has not been seen or heard from since the end of March.

The ABC is reporting that police had not ruled out foul play and that it was evident the body had been there for some time.

Police visited Mr Watson’s Bonython home on April 16 and said at the time it was clear the residence had been left unsecure and without any planning.

At the last public appeal for help on April 18, police said Mr Watson had not accessed his bank accounts recently, he may not have had access to a phone and he was unlikely to be driving a vehicle.
