LAST-minute Labor candidate Steve Whan has got the donkey-vote advantage by securing the poll position of number one on the ballot paper for the NSW election seat of Monaro.

Sitting member, Nationals’ Nichole Overall drew the final spot at number seven for the election, which will be held on March 25.
Whan, who was the member for Monaro between 2003 and 2011 and a former Labor minister, stepped into the candidacy when former Raiders captain Terry Campese suddenly withdrew from the race after weeks of media attention, including over a scandalous party and how he came to be selected as Labor’s candidate.
Monaro candidates will be listed in this order:
- Steve Whan, (Labor)
- Andrew Thaler (independent)
- Chris Pryor (Shooter, Fishers and Farmers)
- James Holgate (Sustainable Australia)
- Jenny Goldie (Greens)
- Josie Tanson (Legalise Cannabis)
- Nichole Overall (Nationals)
Pre-poll voting opens on March 18 and closes on March 24.
