Two Australia-first heavy tanker fire trucks have joined the ACT Rural Fire Service ahead of the 2026-27 bushfire season.

The ACT government says the trucks are the first of their kind to enter service in Australia and have been designed to improve firefighter safety, comfort and efficiency.

They were funded through the government’s Vehicle Replacement Program as part of the 2025-26 ACT Budget.

Police, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Marisa Paterson says the new vehicles will provide volunteer firefighters with improved technology for responding to bushfires.

“These vehicles will not only give our volunteer firefighters new and improved technology to work with but will play a vital role in helping keep our community safe,” Dr Paterson said.
