A 36-year-old man has been charged after allegedly choking and assaulting his partner and twice threatening her with a knife in Pearce on Thursday night.

Police allege the man held a knife to the woman’s throat and threatened to kill her about 8.35pm before fleeing the home.

He allegedly returned later that evening, forced his way into the woman’s bedroom and punched her several times in the face before choking her.

Police say he again held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her before leaving.

Officers arrested the man nearby after he allegedly attempted to flee.

The man, who was on parole, has been charged with two counts of aggravated reckless threat to inflict grievous bodily harm and one count of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
