A dog was allegedly forcibly taken from its owner during an aggravated robbery in Belconnen last month.

Police say a man was walking his dog along College Street about 12.30pm on August 30 when a white Land Rover stopped nearby.

A man allegedly got out of the vehicle, assaulted the dog owner and forcibly took his Staffordshire bull terrier before fleeing in the Land Rover.

Two men, aged 26 and 22, were arrested the following day.

The 26-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery in company, while the 22-year-old has been charged with knowingly concerned in aggravated robbery in company, driving while disqualified and breaching bail.

Police are still searching for the dog, described as having a short dark brindle coat, black muzzle, white chest and white-speckled front legs.

Anyone who witnessed the robbery, has dash-cam footage of the white Land Rover bearing ACT registration YSW11N, or knows the whereabouts of the dog is urged to contact police via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
