A 40-year-old man has been extradited from Queensland after allegedly assaulting his wife multiple times in the ACT between 2024 and 2026.
Police allege the man choked his wife until she lost consciousness, punched her and a bystander who tried to intervene, and broke the windscreen of a vehicle she was driving.
The alleged offences were reported to police and the man was arrested in Gladstone, Queensland, on Saturday before being extradited to the ACT on Tuesday.
He has been charged with three counts of aggravated property damage and one count each of aggravated choking and rendering a person insensible, aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and contravening a family violence order.
