The ACT will have public holidays on both Sunday, April 25, and Monday, April 26, for Anzac Day in 2027.
The ACT Government has declared Sunday, April 25, an additional public holiday, ensuring people who ordinarily work on Anzac Day can access public holiday entitlements. Monday, April 26, will also be observed as a public holiday.
The arrangement follows the approach previously taken in the ACT when Anzac Day falls on a weekend and is consistent with arrangements announced in NSW for 2027.
Skills, Training and Industrial Relations Minister Michael Pettersson said announcing the arrangements early would give workers and businesses certainty.
“Observing a public holiday on Anzac Day itself also ensures that workers who would ordinarily work on the Sunday can access the public holiday entitlements that apply on that day,” he said.
The government will consult stakeholders from late August through September on establishing permanent arrangements for Anzac Day when it falls on a weekend from 2028.
