A 15-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly driving dangerously through O’Connor and Turner before fleeing police and hiding under a car.
Police spotted a silver Mazda 323 without registration plates in O’Connor about 2.40pm on Saturday and signalled for the driver to stop.
Police allege the teenager instead reversed over a gutter and onto a greenbelt, forcing a member of the public pushing a pram to take evasive action.
The car allegedly continued through O’Connor and Turner before stopping at the end of a no-through road. The driver fled on foot and was later found hiding under a vehicle in a car park.
The teenager has been charged with failing to stop for police, aggravated reckless or dangerous driving and driving while unlicensed.
Police are seeking witnesses or dash-cam footage of the Mazda being driven in O’Connor and Turner.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
