A Taylor man has been charged after allegedly using a 3D printer to illegally manufacture firearms and prohibited weapons.

Police searched the 35-year-old’s home on Thursday after receiving information he allegedly possessed a firearm and equipment used to manufacture firearms.

Officers seized 3D-printed handguns and handgun parts, about 30 3D-printed knuckle dusters, 12 tasers, seven cans of pepper spray and a stun gun.

Police also allegedly found steroids, about 100 packets of illicit imported cigarettes and weapons packaged in shipping bags, which they allege were being prepared for sale and distribution.

A 3D printer and computer were also seized for forensic examination.

The man has been charged with unauthorised manufacture of a firearm and possessing or using a prohibited weapon without authorisation. Police say further charges are expected.
