Two men have been charged following separate family violence incidents in Canberra.

A 25-year-old Watson man has been charged after police allege he repeatedly threatened to kill his former partner, her current partner and another woman during July. Police also allege he sought access to weapons and sent a social media video showing what appeared to be a Glock-style firearm.

Officers later searched a Watson home and seized an airsoft Glock-style firearm. The man has been charged with four counts of using a carriage service to threaten to kill, three counts of using a carriage service to menace, and unauthorised possession or use of one to two firearms.

In a separate incident, a 40-year-old Belconnen man has been charged after police allege he assaulted and choked his partner, prevented her from leaving her apartment and took her mobile phone during an argument on Monday.

He has been charged with two counts of choking, suffocating or strangling another person, aggravated common assault and forcible confinement.
