Teen charged over Kippax machete robbery

A teenage girl has been charged and a teenage boy will be summonsed over an armed robbery at a Kippax bottle shop in June.

Police allege the pair entered the store about 3.40pm on June 8 before being confronted by a staff member and leaving.

The attendant locked the doors, but police allege the boy returned, smashed a glass panel, entered the store armed with a machete and threatened the attendant before stealing multiple bottles of alcohol and fleeing.

Following a public appeal, police identified the pair from CCTV footage.

The 17-year-old girl has been charged with aiding an aggravated robbery and is due to face the ACT Children’s Court today. The 17-year-old boy will be summonsed to face the ACT Children’s Court later this year on two counts of aggravated robbery, property damage and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.
