A teenage boy has been charged after a bottle shop employee was allegedly struck several times with a baseball bat during an aggravated robbery in Woden on Monday evening.
Police allege the 17-year-old entered the store armed with a wooden baseball bat about 6pm, repeatedly hit an employee while demanding cash, then took a bottle of alcohol before fleeing.
The employee was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police arrested the teenager at the Civic bus interchange about 6.35pm. They allege he resisted arrest and was carrying a knife.
He has been charged with intentionally inflicting actual bodily harm, aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon, resisting a territory public official and possessing a knife without reasonable excuse.
