Chifley man charged over nuisance Triple Zero calls

A 56-year-old Chifley man has been charged after allegedly making repeated nuisance calls to Triple Zero and the police assistance line over the weekend.

Police allege the man repeatedly called Triple Zero before hanging up. When operators returned the calls to check on his welfare, he was allegedly verbally abusive.

Police say he was warned to stop calling unless it was a genuine emergency, but the calls continued.

Officers arrested the man at his Chifley home about 11.20am on Sunday.

He has been charged with 10 counts of making vexatious calls to emergency services.
