Angie Ouyang has been named the Canberra Region’s inaugural Tour Guide of the Year.
The award, made by the Canberra Region Tourism Industry Council (CRTIC), recognises excellence in tour guiding across the Canberra region and highlights the contribution guides make to the visitor experience.
Ms Ouyang joined the National Museum as a host in 2023 and has become one of its leading guides for VIP tours. Fluent in English, French and Chinese, she leads tours for visitors from Australia and overseas.
She will now represent the Canberra region at the Australian Top Tour Guide Awards, to be held at Parliament House in September.
CRTIC managing director Debra Beetham said the new award recognised the important role tour guides played in showcasing the region.
“Our tour guides are among the region’s greatest ambassadors,” she said.
“They share our stories, our culture and our unique attractions with visitors every day, helping create memorable experiences that encourage people to stay longer, explore more and recommend Canberra to others.”
