Three charged after family violence incidents

Three people have been charged following separate family violence incidents across Canberra in the past 24 hours.

Police allege a 20-year-old Richardson man verbally abused his partner and made threats after throwing furniture inside their home about lunchtime on Friday. He was charged with affray and recklessly threatening to inflict grievous bodily harm.

In a separate incident on Friday night, a 21-year-old Bonner woman allegedly slapped and headbutted her partner before assaulting another person who intervened. She was charged with aggravated common assault, aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault.

Police also allege a 36-year-old Symonston man punched and attempted to strangle his partner following an argument on Friday night. He was charged with aggravated common assault and two counts of choking, suffocating or strangling another person.
