Robbery offender extradited to ACT

A 29-year-old man has been extradited from NSW to the ACT after allegedly fleeing interstate while awaiting sentencing for a 2022 robbery.

The man was due to be sentenced in the ACT Supreme Court after he and another man robbed a victim at knifepoint in Gungahlin in August 2022.

He was arrested the same day and charged with joint commission aggravated robbery and theft. He later pleaded guilty in March 2023 and was granted bail ahead of his sentencing, which was scheduled for April 2024.

Police will allege he failed to appear before the court and fled interstate.

The man was serving a sentence in a NSW prison and following his release on Tuesday, he was arrested by police and extradited to Canberra.
