New chief for National Library

Incoming National Library chief Alison Dellit.

Alison Dellit has been appointed the next Director-General of the National Library of Australia, taking on the role from April 9.

Arts Minister Tony Burke announced the five-year appointment on Tuesday, with Ms Dellit stepping up after nearly two decades at the institution.

She has served as Assistant Director-General Collaboration since 2017, overseeing major programs including Trove, and is widely regarded for her work in digital innovation and cross-sector partnerships.

Ms Dellit joined the library as a graduate in 2006 and played a key role in developing both Trove and the National eDeposit program, later moving into senior leadership roles spanning collections, digital services and national collaboration.

Ms Dellit will replace outgoing Director-General Marie-Louise Ayres, who finishes on April 8 after nine years in the role.
