For Jane Macken, induction into the REIACT Hall of Fame is a significant milestone in a real estate career spanning more than 25 years, a career built on hard work, strong relationships and an enduring enthusiasm for helping people achieve the best possible result from their property.
Jane began her real estate career in Sydney before moving to Canberra more than 37 years ago. After spending time working with special-needs students, she returned to real estate and has now been selling Canberra property for more than 25 years.
During that time, she has achieved numerous street and suburb sales records and accumulated an impressive list of industry accolades, including being named Residential Salesperson of the Year for three consecutive years, as well as receiving national recognition.

Yet Jane says one of the achievements she values most is the loyalty of her clients.
“A lot of my business is repeat or referral, and it makes me happy to work with clients, their friends and family members multiple times over the years,” she says.
“I truly love what I do. Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is incredibly humbling. This recognition makes all the hard work worthwhile and, most importantly, shows that my clients are happy with the results.”
Jane attributes much of her success to understanding that no two clients or properties are the same. Listening carefully and tailoring the selling strategy to each client’s individual needs and aspirations has remained central to her approach throughout her career.

She is also quick to share the recognition with those around her.
“My PA Emma is amazing and I wouldn’t have achieved what I have without her. My team is incredible and I’m a very lucky woman,” Jane says.
Her greatest support, she says, has been her husband David.
“He has been my rock through the good times and the bad. He deserves this award as much as I do.”
For Jane, the Hall of Fame honour is ultimately recognition of the relationships she has built along the way. With clients who return and recommend her, colleagues who share in the successes and family who have supported her, Jane deeply appreciates the connections she’s made throughout her incredible career. After more than 25 years, her enthusiasm for real estate remains unchanged: she still loves the work, the people and the satisfaction of delivering a result that matters to her clients.
