Unlicensed driver prangs Mustang in police chase

A 53-year-old Gungahlin man, driving on a cancelled licence, has been arrested after crashing his red Ford Mustang into a Kambah median strip while allegedly trying to evade police at high speed.

Early on Monday morning police were patrolling on Damala Street, Waramanga,  where they spotted the Mustang being driven erratically.

On activating their emergency lights and sirens to try and stop the vehicle, police allege the driver took off at high speed, swerving across lanes and travelling onto the wrong side of the street.

Police will allege the man drove at a speed of 110 km/h in a 60 km/h zone in Boddington Street in Kambah before crashing into a median strip.

The man was extracted from the vehicle and arrested. He has been charged with failing to stop a motor vehicle for police and aggravated furious/reckless/dangerous driving.
