Teens take stolen Audi for a high-speed spin

Three teenagers have been charged after allegedly driving a stolen motor vehicle dangerously in the Gungahlin area early on Sunday.

About 2.30am police patrolling Amaroo spotted a white Audi travelling at excessive speed along Horsepark Drive. Police allege the Audi was travelling at 120km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Police followed the Audi as it continued to exceed the speed limit towards Casey, when they activated their emergency lights and sirens. The Audi failed to stop for police and allegedly accelerated away.

The stolen car continued into Taylor, where it drove through a red light before hitting a kangaroo.

The 16-year-old driver was  arrested  and two female passengers, aged 16 and 17 were also arrested.

The driver was charged with fail to stop for police, driving a motor vehicle without consent, aggravated dangerous driving, not displaying L plates and being an unaccompanied learner driver.

The passengers were both charged with riding in a motor vehicle without consent.

All three teenagers will face the ACT Children’s Court at a later date.
