The overnight closure from flooding and faecal contamination of the police watch house in Civic has once again put the community, police officers and detainees at risk, says Liberal MLA Deborah Morris.
The shadow minister for police said: “Every day police confront danger to keep the community safe. But dealing with flooding and human waste in the workplace shouldn’t be part of their job description. They have enough to worry about.
“It’s not just the unacceptable health and wellbeing risk to police officers, medical staff and detainees. If the government won’t support the police to do their job, then it’s ultimately the community that pays the price.”
