Five drivers were caught by police for impaired driving and speeding offences in separate incidents on Sunday night.
5.15pm: Police detected a vehicle speeding on William Hovell Drive, Cook. The 38-year-old female driver took a roadside drug test that returned a positive indication to methamphetamine. The driver will face court at a later date.
5.20pm: During a traffic stop on Starke Street, Higgins a 26-year-old male driver returned an alcohol reading of 0.284 and his licence was immediately suspended for 90 days. He was released into the care of a family member and will face court at a later date.
6.30pm: During a traffic stop on Buckley Circuit, Kambah, a 43-year-old male driver returned a positive indication to cannabis and methamphetamine from a roadside test. The driver was taken into custody and later refused a blood test. His licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and will face court at a later date for refusing a blood test and driving a motor vehicle while suspended.
9pm: During a traffic stop on Southern Cross Drive, Holt, a 19-year-old male driver returned a positive indication to cocaine from a roadside test. The driver was released into the care of a family member and will face court at a later date.
10pm: Police booked an 18-year-old male driver travelling at 150km/h in an 80km/h zone on Gungahlin Drive, Gungahlin. His vehicle was impounded by police, and his licence immediately suspended for 90 days. He will face court at a later date.
