Inner-city shops to get a make over from the Libs

Manuka, Kingston, Narrabundah and Dickson shops will be refurbished and repaved and new public toilets built at Downer shops, if the Liberals take government on October 19.

Leader Elizabeth Lee said the Canberra Liberals would also fund $4 million worth of community crime-prevention grants, which could be used for security lighting, fencing, graffiti prevention and other security measures.

She said they would have GPs working with nurses at the inner south walk-in health centre and address traffic congestion and a lack of parking in areas of the inner south and inner north.

Ms Lee, a member for Kurrajong, said: “I have heard from countless Canberrans in the inner north and inner south who are concerned about safety and that is why the Canberra Liberals will provide grants to address these issues.

“We’re committed to upgrading iconic venues, improving parks and playgrounds, and boosting funding for community projects.

“Additionally, we’re tackling cost-of-living pressures, improve housing affordability and enhancing healthcare infrastructure.

“There is also investment in addressing issues with roads, parking and transport that will reduce congestion, improve safety and promote public transport.”
