Canberrans will receive an extra public holiday for Anzac Day in 2026, with the ACT Government confirming it will align with NSW arrangements.
Both Saturday, April 25 and Monday, April 27 will be public holidays, recognising the national day of remembrance while also providing a weekday break.
The government said the decision reflects the Territory’s close cross-border ties, with many workers and families moving between the ACT and NSW.
It is also intended to reduce confusion for employers and employees operating across jurisdictions.
Anzac Day commemorations, including dawn services, will continue to be held on April 25, with the Monday public holiday observed in addition.
